Knotless Polypropylene Cargo & Containment Netting — 50mm Mesh

Heavy duty 50mm knotless polypropylene cargo and containment netting for tipper trucks, skip containers, flatbed trailers, and bulk freight. The slightly larger mesh reduces net weight for frequent single-operator handling while maintaining effective containment. UV stabilised, rot-proof. Custom sizes made in Fleetwood. Buy direct from the manufacturer.

Full Product Description

Our 50mm mesh polypropylene cargo netting is specified where a slightly larger mesh opening is appropriate and where minimising net weight for frequent handling is a priority. The preferred choice for tipper truck covers, skip netting, and heavy bulk cargo containment, the 50mm construction delivers excellent tensile strength and weather resistance for construction, waste management, and bulk freight operations where nets are deployed and retrieved multiple times daily.

Manufactured in our Fleetwood factory from high tenacity polypropylene with a knotless construction, each net is finished with a reinforced perimeter edge and UV stabilised as standard. As with our 45mm range, the knotless design maintains consistent mesh geometry and load distribution under sustained use.

Applications

Tipper truck and body covers — the most common specification for covering open tipper bodies carrying aggregate, demolition waste, construction materials, and soil; the slightly larger mesh reduces overall net weight, making single-operator deployment and retrieval more practical on high-cycle tipper operations

Skip netting — covering skip containers during transport of loose demolition materials, timber, mixed waste, and light bulky items; available in standard skip footprint sizes and made to order for non-standard container dimensions

Flatbed and open trailer containment — suitable for palletised loads and larger goods on flatbed, step-frame, and drop-side trailers where the cargo being carried is of sufficient dimension that the 50mm mesh provides effective containment

Container door safety nets — retaining loose cargo at the door end of shipping containers to protect operatives on opening at destination or goods-in

Rail freight and intermodal — containment netting for open rail wagons and intermodal flat carriers handling bulk and unit loads

Warehouse racking — suitable where goods stored are of sufficient size that a 50mm mesh opening does not allow product to pass through; for smaller packaged goods or components, specify 45mm or 20mm

Agricultural and bulk handling — trailer covers for loose bulk materials in agricultural, quarry, and bulk material handling operations

Buying direct from the manufacture

Every 50mm net in our polypropylene range is manufactured in our own Fleetwood facility. Buying from Boris Nets means buying from the manufacturer — direct pricing, direct technical advice on whether 50mm or another mesh size is right for your specific application, and access to bespoke fabrication with no minimum order requirement.

Compliance

Under the Road Traffic Act 1988, all loads must be properly secured during road transport regardless of journey distance or load type. For tipper and skip operations, covering loose materials during transit is a specific requirement to prevent material loss from the vehicle. Cargo netting provides a practical containment method used alongside appropriate load securing equipment.

Frequently asked questions

What is the practical difference between 45mm and 50mm mesh for cargo use?

The 50mm mesh has a slightly larger opening and is therefore lighter per square metre at the same twine diameter. For most cargo containment applications both are effective; choose 45mm where maximum containment security is needed or where goods may be small enough to pass through a 50mm opening. Choose 50mm where net weight matters — for example on tipper bodies and skip operations where the net is handled frequently by a single operator.

Is 50mm mesh suitable for pallet racking in a warehouse?

Yes, where goods stored are sufficiently large that they cannot pass through the mesh opening. For pick-face racking storing smaller packaged items, cartons, or components, 45mm or 20mm mesh is the more appropriate specification.

Is 45mm suitable for warehouse racking protection?

Yes — 45mm knotless polypropylene is used in warehouses and distribution centres for both front-face pick protection and rear-face anti-collapse netting on high-bay racking. It provides good visual transparency through the mesh so stock can be seen and identified without removing or lifting the net.

Can the edge be finished with a bungee cord?

Yes* — a bungee cord threaded through the reinforced perimeter edge is available as an option, allowing the net to be stretched over uneven or irregular loads and hook-secured to vehicle lashing points without separate tie-off equipment. *At additional cost.
