FALL ARREST SAFETY NETS FOR CONSTRUCTION SITES
Certified Protection for People, Equipment & Worksites
As proud members of FASET — with a seat on the Regulatory Board — Boris Nets is a trusted supplier of fall arrest safety nets for the UK construction industry. Our fully compliant safety netting systems are manufactured to EN 1263-1 / BS EN 1263-1 standards, with installation planned in line with BS EN 1263-2 guidance, site safety requirements and current safety regulations.
Correct safety net installation matters. Systems should be installed, inspected, maintained and de-rigged by competent personnel, with a competent person completing handover checks and issuing a handover certificate where required, alongside pre-use checks and ongoing inspections. Safety nets should then be inspected every seven days, or sooner after adverse weather, impact, tampering or any event that could compromise the system.
We also offer certified training programmes covering safety net rigging, repair and site management, delivered by our qualified in-house assessor. Positioning limits, clearance, testing and the maximum permissible fall height are all considered so each system can provide maximum protection and reduce fall distance wherever practicable.

Which Safety Net System Do You Need?
Fall arrest nets
Best for: roofers, steel erectors, and refurbishment contractors working at height. FASET-compliant safety netting manufactured to EN 1263-1 standards, stocked in popular sizes and available for same- or next-day dispatch. As a secondary protection system, fall arrest safety nets are installed below the work area to reduce fall distance if primary measures fail. Built for energy absorption, these safety nets are designed to catch people, arrest falls and help reduce the risk of injury, including serious injuries and serious harm. They provide a collective form of protection that can protect multiple workers across active work areas. Custom sizes are made to order.
Machinery safety netting
Best for: manufacturing and industrial sites needing to guard moving machinery or plant. Installed around automated systems, lifts, platforms and enclosed drop zones, machinery safety netting helps protect personnel from moving parts, restricted areas and site-specific risk. Mesh sizes, net strength and fixing details are tailored to the specification, with durable materials selected for demanding work environments where safety equipment must withstand regular use.
Protection nets
Best for: sites with fragile roofing, roof lights, or glazing. Custom mesh nets for industrial and construction settings, used on pallet racking, conveyor belts, machinery barriers, scaffolding and access-control areas. These protection nets help prevent unauthorised access, contain falling materials and protect workers from falling objects across various work environments. Mesh sizes, fixing methods and net strength can be tailored to site layouts, access limitations and containment needs, including large-scale development, stadium construction, bridges, viaducts and towers where specialist protection is required.
Training & certification
Accredited FASET training courses for riggers, site managers and safety professionals, including Riggers, International Riggers Card, Netting for Managers, Repair, GSA-1 and NVQ Level 2. Courses are delivered by our in-house trainer and cover practical skills such as safety net installation, repair, inspection, handover, de-rigging and safe working methods around MEWPs, with International Powered Access Federation guidance considered where relevant.
Debris & Litter Nets
Best for: scaffolding, demolition, and façade/refurbishment sites. Engineered to stop debris, falling materials and windblown litter from spreading across construction sites, our debris netting helps reduce risk from falling objects and supports cleaner, safer work areas. Each net is sized and tensioned to suit site conditions. As with other safety equipment, debris and litter nets should be regularly inspected, maintained and repaired where required, with testing and suitable test methods used when needed to support ongoing compliance, safety performance and play a role in preventing accidents.

Frequently asked questions
What are safety netting systems used for?
Safety netting systems are used to protect workers, equipment and site areas where there is a risk of falls, falling objects or unauthorised access. They are commonly used on construction sites, roofing projects, structural steel erection, industrial facilities, warehouses, bridges, towers and large-scale development projects.
Do safety nets replace personal protective equipment?
Safety nets provide collective protection, meaning they can protect multiple workers at once. They do not automatically replace personal protective equipment, personal protection planning or personal fall arrest systems. The right approach depends on the risk assessment, access method, work activity and site conditions.
How do safety nets arrest falls?
Fall arrest safety nets are designed to deform and absorb energy when a person falls into them. In formal safety-net terminology, this means they can catch persons; in practical site language, they catch people, reduce fall distance and help prevent injury, serious injuries and serious harm.
Who should install safety nets?
Safety net installation, inspection, maintenance and de-rigging should be carried out by competent personnel. A competent person should complete handover checks, issue or support the handover certificate where required, and ensure pre-use checks and ongoing inspections are completed in line with HSE guidance and relevant safety regulations.
Can Boris Nets help with access limitations?
Yes. Boris Nets can advise on net specification, mesh sizes, fixing methods and access requirements, including projects where scaffolding, MEWPs or rope access may need to be considered. The aim is to design a safe, practical and cost-effective solution for the work environment.
